NOAA's
Space Weather Program provides timely and accurate operational
space weather forecasts, warnings, alerts, and data to civilian
end users. The end-to-end, matrixed program sets requirements
for NOAA's sensors, ingests and processes data, performs R&D
to improve services, and archives and makes accessible NOAA's
and DOD's data. The program operates education, outreach,
and literacy programs. There are strong links to NOAA's satellite
acquisition programs and the National Space Weather Program,
which coordinates space weather activities across seven member
agencies.
The
Space Weather Program's customers are operators of systems
affected by space weather, such as power grid operators, NASA,
radio communicators, GPS and LORAN users, and airlines.
