NOAA's
Science, Technology and Infusion (ST&I) Program is an enabling
program for improvement of NOAA's Weather and Water services
by meeting short-term needs of NOAA and its customers, while
conducting long-term research that leads to breakthrough advances
in services. ST&I performs state-of-the-art research and works
with NOAA's service programs to infuse new science and technology
via prototyping, evaluation, acquisition, and training. ST&I's
capabilities are:
Science
- Expertise in physics of weather and water phenomena
- Ability to evaluate and improve forecast models and tools
- Equipment and staff for field studies
- Societal and economic impact analysis Technology
- Development of new sensors and observing strategies
- Evauation of integrated observing systems
- Engineering information technologies Infusion
