Integrated Water Forecasting Program

NOAA's Integrated Water Forecasting Program delivers flood watches; river and flash flood warnings, and river, lake level, and water quality forecasts through Weather Forecast Offices (WFOs) to a broad spectrum of customers. WFOs receive river, lake level, flash flood, and water quality guidance from River Forecast Centers (RFCs). RFCs also provide river and water quality forecasts to water resource managers. NOAA Office of Hydrologic Development (OHD) develops and delivers state-of-the-art science and technology used by RFCs and WFOs. The Hydrologic Services Division (HSD) leads the customer outreach program, serves as an interagency liaison, maintains policy and requirements for and assesses performance of the overall hydrologic services program and provides technical support for RFC and WFO hydrologic operations. Additionally, HSD supports the National Operational Hydrologic Remote Sensing Center in its colelction, assimilation, and provision of the best estimate of snowpack characteristics for the U.S.
